The International Chess Tournament for the President's Cup of Tajikistan has kicked off in Dushanbe.

The KhIMIO-2025 International Olympiad was held to implement the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and to fulfill the provisions of the "Twenty Years of Teaching and Developing Natural, Exact, and Mathematical Sciences in Science and Education" for 2020–2040. The head of state also emphasized the need to prioritize the development of the exact sciences, the study of modern technologies, and the equipping of educational and scientific laboratories in educational institutions. He also emphasized the need to strengthen oversight of the acquisition of modern knowledge, encourage young people to read fiction and scientific literature, develop creative abilities, and enhance the role of teaching natural, exact, and mathematical sciences. As part of the "Twenty Years of Teaching and Developing the Natural, Exact, and Mathematical Sciences in Science and Education" initiative, the President initiated the annual national competition "Ilm — Furogi Ma'rifat" ("Science — the Light of Knowledge"), aimed at stimulating technical thinking and a scientific worldview in society. According to statistics, 156 people were recognized as winners of the national stage of the competition in 2025, of which 26 took first place, 52 took second, and 78 took third.
