The Tajikistan national team defeated Afghanistan in the second round of the group stage of the 2025 CAFA Nations Cup. The match, held at the Hisor Central Stadium, ended 2-0 in favor of the tournament hosts. More than 15,000 spectators watched the match, according to the press service of the Tajikistan Football Federation.
In the 24th minute, midfielder Ehsoni Panjshanbe opened the scoring with a confident penalty kick. In stoppage time, substitute striker Shervoni Mabatshoev doubled the Tajik team's lead, sealing the match's final result.
In another Group B match, Iran confidently beat India with a score of 3:0.
After two rounds, Iran leads the group with six points. India and Tajikistan each have three points, but the Indian team is ahead of the tournament hosts on additional indicators. Afghanistan has no points yet.
The final round of the group stage will take place on September 4. Afghanistan will face India at 5:00 PM local time, and Tajikistan will face Iran at 8:30 PM. Both matches will take place at the Hisor Central Stadium.
