The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan reported several road accidents that occurred on August 30 and 31 in various regions of the country. As a result of the accidents, six people were killed and at least seven others were injured to varying degrees.
As the department clarified, on the evening of August 30, at approximately 7:10 PM, a fatal accident involving a Hyundai Avante occurred in the Kushoniyon district. According to investigators, the driver, 40-year-old local resident Alisher Tadjibaev, lost control of the vehicle and struck an electric scooter driven by 38-year-old Nasiba Abdulloeva. She sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.
On the afternoon of August 31, around 11:00 a.m., a major accident involving three vehicles occurred on the Dushanbe-Tursunzoda highway. The driver of a Hyundai Sonata, 34-year-old Tursunzade resident Akmal Sarbarov, lost control of the car and collided with two Opel Astras.
As a result, the driver of one of the Opel vehicles and his passengers—76-year-old Makhsuda Makhmadkhonova, 49-year-old Rustam Mamadkhonov, and 47-year-old Sherali Yasharov, all residents of the Faizabad district—died. They died en route to the hospital. Five others, including women and a teenager, were taken to hospitals with serious injuries. The Hyundai driver was also injured.
Additionally, on the same day, an eight-year-old child was killed by a car in the Gissar district. Another tragedy occurred in Kushoniyon, where a car struck and killed a 38-year-old man.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, investigative bodies are investigating all the circumstances of the incidents.
According to statistics, hundreds of people are killed and injured in road accidents in Tajikistan every year. Last year alone, the death toll was 552, averaging up to two fatalities per day.
