As part of a working visit, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon visited the Khovaling district of Khatlon region, where he attended the opening ceremony of the Jalol Ikromi Gymnasium. This was reported by the presidential press service.
The new educational institution was built by local entrepreneur Abdullo Khasanov in honor of the republic's 35th anniversary of independence. The two-story building accommodates 456 students and is equipped with a modern library, an indoor gymnasium, an outdoor sports field, specialized classrooms, a cafeteria, and labs for physics, chemistry, and biology. The school also provides facilities for 12 subject-specific clubs and preparation for national and international Olympiads.
Construction of the gymnasium began in February 2025 on an area of approximately 4,900 square meters and was completed in August of this year. The project cost 5.5 million somoni. With the completion of the facility, 60 teachers and specialists in the district have received permanent jobs.
In addition, the head of state remotely opened three more comprehensive schools, two kindergartens, and a tourist sports center in the Khovaling district.
Speaking at the ceremony, the head of state noted the importance of entrepreneurs' contributions to the development of the education system and the creation of conditions for young people to acquire modern knowledge. He emphasized that the construction of new facilities, in line with national architectural traditions and international standards, demonstrates the state's priority attention to education.
