At the annual Coursera conference, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, was awarded the international Learning Hero award.
The Learning Hero Award is Coursera's recognition of individuals and organizations who are becoming true agents of change by implementing digital learning tools across countries and industries. The award recognizes courage, strategic thinking, and leadership in transforming education through global online platforms.
Kazakhstan is implementing one of the world's largest digital education programs: Kazakh students have earned approximately 350,000 certificates on the Coursera platform, dozens of courses have been localized into Kazakh, universities have integrated online courses into academic programs, and leading digital resources have become available to students at all universities in the country.
These strategic steps position Kazakhstan as a country successfully implementing digital education reform.
