Prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan were discussed in Dushanbe as part of the Investment and Tourism Forum, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan.
A meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Akhliddin Nuriddinzoda and Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Tourism and Investment Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan.
The interlocutors emphasized that, thanks to the policies of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, bilateral relations and trade and economic cooperation are reaching a qualitatively new level.
Particular attention was paid to the development of trade, increasing trade turnover, attracting private investment, introducing modern technologies, and harnessing the potential in the areas of industry, agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, transport, and logistics.
It was noted that Tajikistan has significant potential in hydropower and agriculture, which is of interest to the Pakistani market.
Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan expressed his readiness to facilitate the expansion of ties between entrepreneurs of the two countries, as well as attract Pakistani investment into the economy of Tajikistan.
Following the talks, the parties expressed confidence that the use of the legal framework and existing opportunities will contribute to the deepening of bilateral cooperation and the development of the region's economy.
