The 18th meeting of the Tajik-Belarusian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation took place in Dushanbe. Following the meeting, the parties signed ten documents aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, agriculture, industry, and science.
The signed documents include an agreement between Slutsk Sugar Refinery OJSC and Obi Zulol CJSC, a cooperation agreement in livestock production between the Belplemzhivobedinenie Livestock Association and Boboi Sharifbek LLC regarding the supply of breeding cattle to Tajikistan, and an agreement between Slonim Meat Processing Plant OJSC and the Dushanbe State Unitary Enterprise for the Production and Sale of Food Products. Furthermore, agreements were reached between Pruzhany Dairy Plant OJSC and Lokhur Tijorat LLC regarding the supply of powdered milk and whey, as well as between Glubokoye Dairy Canning Plant OJSC and the Agency for the Provision of Special Property under the Government of Tajikistan.
As noted at the meeting, regional cooperation between the two countries has become an important platform for deepening production, scientific, technical, and integration processes. The Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan emphasized that holding the meeting creates favorable conditions for expanding bilateral relations.
According to him, the country's government is taking measures to develop a "green" economy, digitalize public services, and introduce cashless payments. Tajikistan's GDP in 2024 was 150 billion somoni, 8.4% higher than the previous year. Over the past five years, industrial production has almost doubled, from 27 to 53 billion somoni, while agricultural output has increased 1.9-fold, to 73 billion somoni.
The Belarusian side reported that 1,056 head of cattle were imported to Tajikistan from January to June 2025, a 42% increase compared to the same period in 2024. According to Belarusian Minister of Agriculture and Food Yuri Gorlov, cooperation with Tajikistan will expand not only in agriculture but also in industrial cooperation, light industry, pharmaceuticals, and education and science.
