Construction has begun on the country's largest automobile bridge, measuring 920 meters long and 15 meters wide, in the Nurabad district, reports NIAT Khovar.
The bridge being built across the Surkhob River is scheduled for completion within two years. It will connect the two banks of the Rogun Reservoir and become a key element of the Rasht Valley's transport infrastructure. The project will also potentially open up new opportunities for industrial and tourist development in the region, and its construction is seen as a strategic step toward overcoming difficult road sections, according to the administration.
The bridge construction project is part of the third phase of the Obi Garm-Nurobad highway and complies with international road construction standards. Both domestic and international specialists participated in the feasibility study and design.
As a reminder, on August 26 of this year, during a working visit to the Nurabad district, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, reviewed the design documentation and construction plans for the bridge.
The commissioning of Tajikistan's largest bridge is intended to improve transport links in the region, enhance the efficiency of industrial logistics, expand tourist routes, and create additional jobs for the local population.
