In Tajikistan, police officers detained three men on suspicion of committing large-scale fraud, the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
On July 17, 2023, two Kulob residents, aged 33 and 56, fraudulently obtained 360,360 somoni from a 44-year-old Dushanbe resident. The suspects promised to purchase him a 78-square-meter apartment in a new building owned by Shelon LLC, but used the money for personal purposes.
Additionally, a 48-year-old resident of Istaravshan was detained. On June 10, 2025, he gained the trust of a 60-year-old local woman, purchased two cars from her—a Toyota Camry 5 and a BMW 730—for a total of 350,800 somoni, sold them to third parties, and kept the proceeds for himself.
A criminal case has been opened against all suspects under Part 4 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. The investigation is ongoing, and all circumstances of the crimes are being clarified.
