On September 18, 2025, a national conference on "Counteracting Corruption – a Development Factor in the Energy Sector" was held at Barqi Tojik JSC. The event was organized by the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption with the participation of state energy sector agencies, according to the Agency's press center.
The main goal of the conference was to raise anti-corruption awareness, prevent violations in the energy sector, strengthen the electronic payment system for government services, and minimize human error using digital technologies.
Participants emphasized that the energy sector is a key factor in economic and social development, and in Tajikistan, which has rich hydropower resources, the construction of hydroelectric power plants ensures not only a stable energy supply for the population but also the country's energy security.
During the conference, industry representatives and experts called for adherence to the policies of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to actively prevent corruption in the energy sector, including electricity theft, and thereby contribute to the government's strategic goal of ensuring the country's energy independence.
