US President Donald Trump sent a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres demanding an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his visit to the General Assembly. The American leader announced this on his social media account, Truth Social.
Trump said there were "three ominous incidents" during his time at the General Assembly. Specifically, the escalator leading to the main floor of the Assembly Hall stopped, the teleprompter malfunctioned during his speech, and then the sound in the chamber went completely black.
"This was no coincidence. This was triple sabotage at the UN," the US president wrote, adding that he expected an immediate investigation.
The White House has not yet commented on the situation. The UN leadership has also not provided an official response to the American leader's statement.
