In Tajikistan's Khatlon region, more than 85 million somoni in social assistance was provided to needy citizens over the first nine months of 2025, regional authorities reported.
Assistance was provided in the lead-up to national holidays and celebrations to low-income groups, including veterans, orphans, and low-income families. As of September 2025, assistance totaling 52 million somoni had been provided to 77,700 families and individuals .
There are 305,900 registered pensioners in the region, 14,400 more than last year. The total pension payments amounted to 1.3 billion somoni , a 23.2% increase compared to the previous year.
In Tajikistan, more than 863,600 people receive a pension, with the average payment amounting to 469.16 somoni , according to the Republic’s Social Insurance Agency.
The provision of social assistance is aimed at improving the financial situation of low-income citizens, increasing the level of social protection, and supporting those in need during national holidays and special events.
