Tajikistan won its first medal at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain. Athlete Abubakr Turaev won bronze in the 65 kg weight class of kuresh.
According to Varzish TV, this is the first medal for the Tajik team at the current Games. Turaev's victory is a significant achievement for the national team, opening its medal tally in this sporting event.
The 3rd Asian Youth Games are taking place in Bahrain from October 22 to 31 and feature 26 sports. Some competitions, including kuresh, began before the official opening of the Games on October 19.
Tajikistan is represented at the Games by 65 athletes competing in 12 disciplines: athletics, swimming, boxing, badminton, judo, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, kuresh, electronic sports, jiu-jitsu, muay thai, taekwondo, and MMA.
Let us recall that at the 2nd Asian Youth Games in Nanjing (China) in 2013, the Tajikistan team won two medals – one silver and one bronze.
