The Area AI investment consortium, uniting leading international artificial intelligence companies, was officially signed on October 25 in Dushanbe. Area AI is a project to create the world's first dedicated zone entirely focused on the development of artificial intelligence-based programs and solutions.
The zone is designed to become a hub for research, development, and responsible application of AI technologies, as well as a platform for international cooperation, investment, and the transfer of advanced technologies based on the principles of artificial intelligence self-regulation. The Area AI project implements Tajikistan's initiative, presented at the United Nations, which emphasized the need to promote global self-regulatory mechanisms in the field of artificial intelligence.
The creation of the Area AI investment consortium was a key milestone in the implementation of this initiative. The consortium serves as a governing alliance, uniting companies, research centers, and startups involved in shaping Tajikistan's new technology ecosystem.
The consortium includes existing companies that are already successfully exporting their solutions from Tajikistan globally, including zypl.ai, epsilon3.ai, zehnlab.ai, darya.ai, and Qulla AI, as well as international companies from the United States, UAE, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. The participants are joining forces to create a full technology cycle—from green computing and fundamental research to education, commercialization, and the export of AI solutions from Tajikistan to Central Asian countries and beyond.
Global AI leaders who joined the Area AI consortium include Presight (G42), Yotta, and others. At the initiative of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan, memorandums were also signed with Scale AI and Perplexity AI.
In preparation for the project's launch, agreements have been signed with leading technology companies from the United States, the UAE, France, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia to establish AI laboratories and research centers within the zone.
"Tajikistan already has a full cycle of AI development—from teaching AI in schools and integrating technologies into government systems to creating green data centers. The launch of Area AI will be the next milestone on this path and will create a platform that will allow foreign companies to implement joint projects, test solutions, and enter the Central Asian market through Tajikistan. This will transform the country into a hub for talent, investment, and cutting-edge research in AI, connecting East and West on the global technology map," noted Area AI CEO Firuzjon Sodiqov.
The consortium's launch took place at the AI Conf 2025 international conference, which brought together representatives of the government, technology companies, international organizations, and venture capital funds in Dushanbe. More than 20 different cooperation agreements are expected to be signed during the conference today.
