A tragic incident occurred in the Yovon district of Khatlon region: a 7-year-old boy drowned in a main canal. The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan reported this.
The incident occurred on October 24 in the village of Pakhtakor. According to preliminary reports, the child was left unattended and accidentally fell into a canal.
Rescuers from the Khatlon Region Emergency Situations Committee were dispatched to the scene and organized a search operation. After several days of searching, the boy's body was discovered on October 26 and handed over to the appropriate authorities for necessary procedures.
The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense urges parents and guardians to be especially attentive to their children and not to leave them unattended, especially near rivers, canals, and other bodies of water. According to the agency, the number of such tragic incidents has increased recently, and most are due to adult inattention.
