The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Chairman of the city of Dushanbe Rustami Emomali visited the village of Panjob in the Mir Said Ali Hamadani district on July 20. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the targeted use of land and the implementation of the instructions of the head of state on the development of the agro-industrial sector in the Limited Liability Company "Toj AGRO", the press service of the head of state reports.
The focus was on measures to ensure food security, increase agricultural production, create jobs and develop the country's export potential.
According to information provided during the visit, Todzh AGRO owns 75 hectares of irrigated arable land, of which 72 hectares are occupied by intensive gardens and vineyards. The farm employs 150 people on a permanent basis, and more than 450 people are involved in seasonal work.
In pursuance of the instructions of the head of state, trial cultivation of high-yielding grape varieties imported from China and European countries oriented towards export is successfully carried out on 50 hectares of land. The climatic conditions and soils of the region are considered favorable for viticulture. Gardeners have committed to expanding these plantations by another 50 hectares, as a result of which the farm will be able to produce up to 1,500 tons of grapes annually, starting in 2027.
Particular attention is paid to the Avatar grape variety, which is distinguished by its high quality and stable demand on the international market. The yield of vineyards reaches 20 tons per hectare already in the second year.
As part of the import substitution and agro-processing program, the farm is growing seedlings and cuttings sufficient to plant 30 hectares of new vineyards. This creates the preconditions for the employment of hundreds of people.
Also, on the site of the old garden, a new intensive apple plantation was established using high-yielding and climate-resistant seedlings. Two year-round greenhouses on an area of 4 hectares were built on the farm, where vegetables and citrus fruits are grown, as well as a modern refrigeration chamber with a capacity of 1,000 tons for storing fruits.
Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and other crops are already grown in the greenhouses and sold on the local market. Successful cultivation of citrus trees and experimental cultivation of mangoes, which is a new direction in the region's agricultural practice, have also been noted.
In addition, a honey processing workshop has been created, which allows us to expand the range of products and support the domestic market.
During the visit, the head of state was shown an exhibition of agricultural products, where local farmers presented vegetables, fruits, grains, including potatoes, carrots, onions, grapes and apples.
In the Mir Said Ali Hamadani district, active socio-economic activities are underway for the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. Of the planned 51 facilities, 44 have already been commissioned, including schools, preschool institutions, medical centers, roads, bridges, water supply, sports facilities and power lines. The total investment amounted to almost 298 million somoni. A total of 114 jobs have been created.
During the meeting, the district's entrepreneurs promised the head of state to pave an additional 25 kilometers of roads before the anniversary of Independence.
President Emomali Rahmon highly praised the achievements of the farm and gave instructions to increase the area of orchards and vineyards, create new jobs, increase the volume of agricultural production, especially early vegetables, and provide for domestic and foreign markets.
