London football club Chelsea became the first finalist of the Club World Cup held in the USA, defeating Brazilian Fluminense in the semi-final match. The match ended with a score of 2:0 in favor of the English team.
The game took place at the stadium in East Rutherford. The goals for Chelsea were scored by forward Christopher Nkunku and midfielder Conor Gallagher. It was the first meeting between the two clubs.
The other semi-final, which will take place on July 9, will feature Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain of France. The final of the tournament is scheduled for July 13, also in East Rutherford.
The Club World Championship is being held for the first time in a new format with 32 teams participating and a total prize fund of $1 billion. The winner of the tournament will be able to earn up to $125 million.
This is Chelsea's third Club World Cup final: they won in 2021 and lost in the final in 2012.
