On Thursday night, Russian troops launched a massive missile and drone strike on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The attack resulted in extensive destruction, fires, and civilian casualties.
According to the Kyiv authorities, the main blow fell on the Solomensky, Svyatoshinsky, Shevchenkovsky and Dniprovsky districts of the capital. Residential multi-story buildings, cars, and civil infrastructure facilities were damaged. In some districts, large-scale fires broke out – the roofs of houses, warehouses, the territory of service stations and garage cooperatives burned. In the Shevchenkovsky district, an unoccupied eight-story building was destroyed; the fire occurred on the first floor.
According to the latest data, the number of victims is 23 people, 14 of whom were hospitalized. Among the wounded is a 10-year-old girl. At least five ambulances that responded to calls were damaged. There were no injuries among the medics.
Destruction was also recorded in the Fastiv district of the Kyiv region. Rescuers extinguished fires on the roof of a multi-story building and in seven private garages. According to the State Emergency Service, there were no casualties in this area.
The day before, on July 3, Russian forces also attacked Poltava and Odessa. There were casualties as a result of the strike on the building of the territorial center for staffing and social support in Poltava. In Odessa, as a result of the strike by a cluster ballistic missile, two people were killed and three were injured.
The Ukrainian authorities have called on residents of the capital to remain calm, not open windows and observe safety rules in the face of possible repeated attacks.
