President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with the Chairman of the Saudi Fund for Development Sultan Abdulrahman al-Marshad. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.
The parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Saudi Fund for Development, focusing on expanding partnership in the area of financing priority socio-economic projects.
One of the central topics of the talks was the participation of the Saudi Fund in the implementation of major infrastructure programs in Tajikistan. Particular attention was paid to projects in the fields of education, healthcare, transport, hydropower and water resources management.
President Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Saudi Fund for financial support in the amount of 100 million US dollars for the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power station – a strategic energy facility in the country, as well as for the allocation of 30 million dollars for the project to build a ring road in the city of Kulob.
The parties confirmed their interest in the Fund’s further active participation in financing socially significant and infrastructure initiatives in Tajikistan, emphasizing the importance of diversifying interaction formats and using all available opportunities to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.
Following the meeting, confidence was expressed in the progressive development of relations between Tajikistan and the Saudi Fund for Development in the spirit of strategic partnership.
