The online application campaign for admission to universities for the 2025/26 academic year has ended in Uzbekistan. From June 5 to 25, 732,411 applicants registered through government services websites, which was the lowest figure in the last seven years, according to a report by the Agency for Assessment of Knowledge and Qualifications under the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic, Fergana.ru reports.
The department specified that of the total number of those who applied to take the test, 386,112 were girls and 346,299 were boys.
The largest number of applicants for admission to higher and professional institutions chose to study in the Uzbek language – 644,027 people. Next come those who preferred the Russian language – 71,476 citizens, Karakalpak – 14,959 and other languages – 1,949.
The agency warned applicants who need to pay for the service that they will not be allowed to take the exams if they do not transfer the money by the end of today, June 26.
Please note that testing is free for this year's graduates.
This rule also applies to persons: with disabilities; included in the "Youth Notebook"; registered in the "Unified Register of Social Protection"; receiving full state support; recommended for training without exams.
Thus, only those who have already attempted to enroll in a university before must pay. They are charged 0.5 of the basic calculation value – 187,500 soums ($15).
Returning to the number of applicants, we note that compared to last year, the figure has decreased by more than 18%. Then, 894,279 people wished to become students.
The record for this indicator was set in 2020 – 1,484,085 applicants. By the way, since 2022, the number of those who applied online has been steadily decreasing.
