The Dushanbe City Police Department expressed serious concern over the increasing number of minors drowning in the capital. According to the department's press service, two tragic cases of young children dying in home swimming pools have been registered in the city over the past week.
"Both incidents occurred in swimming pools located on the territory of private homes. In both cases, the children were without adult supervision," the department clarified.
The police remind that in the summer period the number of accidents on the water increases sharply, including those involving minors. Such tragedies, as a rule, are the result of negligence and lack of control on the part of parents and legal representatives.
"These cases should be a serious reminder that children should not be left unattended near water. Parents are obliged to ensure the safety of their children and supervise their actions, especially near bodies of water," the department emphasized.
In this regard, the capital's law enforcement agencies strongly recommend that citizens exercise maximum caution, not leave children alone near swimming pools, rivers and other bodies of water, and also explain to them the rules of conduct near water.
Police officers continue to carry out preventive work, including explanatory talks with the population, as well as the installation of warning signs in places dangerous for swimming.
