On the night of June 23, the armed forces of the Russian Federation launched a massive air attack on the territory of Ukraine, significant destruction was recorded in Kyiv. As a result of the shelling, residential buildings, a business center, a school, a metro station, and transport infrastructure were damaged in various areas of the capital. At least four people were confirmed dead, 13 were injured.
As reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) the main destruction was recorded in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital, where one of the entrances of a multi-story residential building completely collapsed. There may be people under the rubble. Work to clear the rubble continues.
"As of this morning, four people are known to have died and 13 injured. Ten people, including two children and a pregnant woman, have been rescued from under the rubble," the State Emergency Service said in a statement.
According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klimenko, the consequences of the attack in the Shevchenkivskyi district are considered the most severe. The floors of the 4th and 5th floors of the building were damaged, the roof was partially destroyed, and cars in the yard caught fire. Several people were injured in the fire and received medical and psychological assistance.
According to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), the roof of a non-residential building caught fire in Solomensky district due to falling drone debris, and five other objects were also damaged. In Darnitsky district, a two-story residential building was damaged, but there were no casualties. In Svyatoshinsky district, the exit from the Svyatoshin metro station was damaged, a public transport stop caught fire nearby, and two people were injured.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko also reported new fires in Podolsk and Shevchenkivskyi districts, damage to buildings and cars. In Goloseevskyi district, two cars and a business center were damaged, in Desnyanskyi district, a crater formed in the courtyard of a residential building.
The air raid alarm in Kyiv lasted until 4:33. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the attack involved suicide drones of the Shahed type, which were recorded in more than ten regions of the country.
