Tajikistan's international airports handled 1,562,000 passengers in the first half of 2026, an 8% increase compared to the same period last year. This was announced today at a press conference summarizing the results of the first half of 2026 by Khabibullo Nazarzoda, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In absolute terms, passenger traffic increased by 113,298 people.
Over the past six months, the country's airports handled 5,760 flights. This figure remained virtually unchanged from last year, with the number of flights decreasing by just one.
Dushanbe International Airport traditionally handled the largest passenger volume. From January to June, the capital's airport handled 1,170,737 passengers.
Of these, 579,039 people arrived in Dushanbe, and 591,698 passengers departed from the capital.
Compared to the first half of last year, passenger traffic at Dushanbe Airport increased by 132,227 people, or 13%.
During the reporting period, the airport handled 4,475 flights, including 4,161 scheduled and 314 charter flights. The number of flights handled increased by 3.7%.
Significant growth was also recorded in air cargo transportation. The cargo terminal at Dushanbe International Airport received and dispatched approximately 1,365 tons of cargo and mail.
Of the total volume, 207 tons were export cargo and 1,158 tons were import cargo.
Compared to the same period last year, cargo traffic increased by 373 tons, or 38%.
Currently, 18 domestic and foreign airlines operate flights through Dushanbe Airport.
In total, Tajikistan's regular air traffic in the first half of 2026 covered 14 countries.
Aviation authorities have approved 275 scheduled flights per week to 57 destinations. Of these, five are domestic, 32 connect Tajikistan with cities in Russia, and another 20 connect Tajikistan with other countries.
Of the total number of weekly flights, 72 are operated by Tajik airlines, 159 by Russian carriers, and 44 by airlines from other foreign countries.
The Civil Aviation Agency announces that it will continue to expand its flight network, modernize international airport infrastructure, and improve the quality of passenger service.
