A ceremony unveiling a bust of Shota Rustaveli, the eminent Georgian poet and classic of medieval literature, took place in Dushanbe on June 20 on the street named after the great poet. The event took place during Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan, as reported by NIAT Khovar.
The ceremony of unveiling the bust was attended by members of the Georgian government delegation, headed by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Dilrabo Mansuri, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan, writers, scientists and residents of the capital.


The installation of the bust of Shota Rustaveli became a symbol of the strengthening of friendly, cultural, and historical ties between the Tajik and Georgian peoples.
Shota Rustaveli is the author of the immortal poem "The Knight in the Panther's Skin," which occupies a special place in world literature and the Tajik literary tradition. His works have been translated into many languages, including Tajik, and are widely popular.




In his works, the poet promoted high moral ideals, humanism, equality, and the unity of peoples. The poem "The Knight in the Panther's Skin" is distinguished by its profound philosophical content and occupies a special place in world culture, as well as in the cultural heritage of the Tajik people. Its translation into Tajik was carried out with the participation of renowned poets.
The unveiling of the bust of Shota Rustaveli in Dushanbe is further confirmation that Tajikistan and Georgia attach particular importance to developing cultural cooperation and consistently strive to preserve and promote each other's literary heritage.
