The cocoon supply season has begun in Penjikent. This year, local farmers have set a target of cultivating 650 boxes of silkworm eggs and expect to produce 19.5 tons of industrial raw material from them, according to the city's press service.
The first to begin harvesting were the silkworm growers at the Taylonov Agricultural Farm in Sarazm. Led by Nizom Ochilov, the team members raised silkworms from eight egg boxes.
On the first day of deliveries, they delivered over 60 kilograms of high-quality cocoons to the collection point. According to the producers, they plan to increase this figure to 320 kilograms by the end of the season.
On the same day, agricultural producers from the Dashti Malla farm in Sudzhino district also began to hand over cocoons.
According to the representative office of Pillai Tojik OJSC in the city of Penjikent, two tons of products were received on the first day of the supply season.
This year, silkworm breeders will be paid 20 somoni for every kilogram of cocoons produced.
