The death toll in Kyiv following a massive Russian military strike has risen to 24, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to the State Emergency Service, 24 people, including three children, were killed in the strike in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. A total of 48 people were injured, including two children. Rescuers managed to evacuate and rescue 30 people.
The agency also reported that 398 people received psychological assistance. Canine units searched approximately 2,800 square meters of the area.


The search and rescue operation in the Darnytskyi district has concluded. It lasted over 28 hours. During this time, rescuers removed over 3,000 cubic meters of destroyed structures. State Emergency Service units have now begun emergency recovery operations.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that 57 people were injured in the attack, 27 of whom are hospitalized in city hospitals.
On the night of May 14, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Kyiv using missiles and drones. A multi-story residential building partially collapsed in the Darnytskyi district.

In connection with the tragedy, Friday, May 15, has been declared a day of mourning in Kyiv. National flags on municipal buildings across the city have been lowered to half-mast. Flags on public and private buildings have also been recommended to be lowered to half-mast. Entertainment events have been cancelled.
On the night of May 15, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the movement of a group of drones towards the Kyiv region from the Chernihiv region.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko later announced that air defense forces were deployed in the capital's Obolonsky district. Residents were advised to remain in shelters.
