On May 12, Khatlon Region Chairman Davlatali Said inspected the progress of restoration work on the Yovon-Khuroson irrigation canal, which was damaged by a mudflow. This was reported by the press service of the Khatlon Region Chairman.
According to the agency, the canal was damaged in two places, which affected the irrigation system for agricultural land.
During the inspection, it was noted that the irrigation canal is crucial for providing irrigation water to part of the agricultural lands in the Yovon and Abdurrahman Jami districts, as well as all agricultural lands in the Khuroson district. Therefore, the rapid restoration of the facility is of great importance for the region's agricultural sector.

According to officials, restoration work on damaged areas is continuing with the Agency for Land Management and Water Use under the Government of Tajikistan as part of the Water Supply System Project under Climate Change, as well as measures to clean up water intake and drainage structures in the Vakhsh River basin.
As of now, approximately 90% of restoration work has been completed on the first damaged section, while on the second section this figure is 50%.

To expedite repair and restoration work, 19 units of specialized equipment, as well as dozens of specialists and workers, are being deployed around the clock.
The Yeowon-Huroseong irrigation canal is reported to have a total length of 93 kilometers. It is considered one of the most important hydraulic structures in the region.

Following the inspection, the Khatlon Region Chairman instructed the responsible authorities to ensure high-quality and timely completion of restoration work so that the canal is fully operational by May 20.
It was also emphasized that in order to restore the channel's normal operation as quickly as possible, it is necessary to mobilize all available resources.
