On May 4, the Republic of Tajikistan officially joined the Advisory Centre on World Trade Organization Law (ACWL). This was announced by the Embassy of Tajikistan in the Swiss Confederation.
The accession protocol was signed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Switzerland, Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Sharaf Sheralizoda, and the Executive Director of the Advisory Center on WTO Law, Niall Meagher.
It is noted that joining the Center is considered an important step in strengthening Tajikistan's legal capacity in the international trading system. This decision provides the country with access to professional legal support within the framework of the rules and procedures of the World Trade Organization.
The Republic is expected to utilize the Center's technical and advisory assistance in resolving trade disputes, developing legal positions, and enhancing the knowledge and professional skills of its specialists.
It is emphasized that Tajikistan became the second Central Asian country to join this body.
The Advisory Centre on WTO Law was established in 2001 to provide legal support to developing and least developed countries on matters related to the rules of the World Trade Organization.
