Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda arrived in the city of Kulob this morning on the instructions of President Emomali Rahmon. The purpose of the visit is to review the situation following the natural disaster, organize relief efforts, and provide emergency assistance to the affected population.
It was reported that on the night of May 1, heavy rainfall caused flooding and mudslides in some areas of Kulob. As a result, several streets and neighborhoods were inundated. According to available reports, three people were killed, and three more were hospitalized with various injuries. The disaster also damaged residential buildings, outbuildings, city roads, city infrastructure, and other structures.
The head of state's condolences and words of support were conveyed to the relatives of the victims and the affected families.


Kokhir Rasulzoda instructed the State Emergency Commission, the Khatlon region leadership, the executive authorities of the city of Kulob, emergency response agencies, public utilities, and other responsible city, regional, and national authorities to promptly address the consequences of the natural disaster and provide emergency assistance to the affected population.
The need for full mobilization of equipment and mechanisms, as well as completion of work on clearing streets and roads, restoring transport links, repairing damaged infrastructure, and providing assistance to the population as quickly as possible is emphasized.
At the same time, responsible officials have been instructed to form task forces, provide food to victims, provide primary medical and sanitary assistance, evacuate residents from dangerous zones to safe locations, and organize a 24-hour watch in vulnerable areas.



Work is currently underway in the affected areas of Kulyab to eliminate the consequences of the mudflows, clean up the areas, and restore normal living conditions for the population using specialized equipment and mechanisms.
The Prime Minister met with affected residents at the scene and noted that the situation, the aftermath of the disaster, and the provision of first aid have been under the attention and control of President Emomali Rahmon since the first hours.
Earlier this morning, the President instructed the Prime Minister, the heads of the Khatlon region, and the State Emergency Commission to immediately arrive at the scene and take all necessary measures to provide assistance to the affected families and immediately address the consequences of the natural disaster.
