On April 22, 2026, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Nuriddinzoda Akhliddin Nuriddin, as part of the official delegation of the country led by the Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim, took part and spoke at a meeting of ministers of the countries participating in the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).
The event was held in Bangkok, Thailand, as part of the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), chaired by the Kyrgyz Republic. This was reported by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In his speech, Nuriddinzoda noted that, thanks to the consistent and far-sighted policies of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, as well as the constructive interaction of the SPECA participating countries, there has been a steady growth in cooperation in a number of priority areas.
These included developing trade and transport connectivity, digitalizing data exchange within the Trans-Caspian transport corridors, strengthening transport connectivity for sustainable Eurasian ties, expanding energy cooperation both within the region and beyond, and promoting sustainable trade, innovation, and circular economy principles.
It was emphasized that SPECA events contribute to the advancement of Tajikistan's global and regional initiatives, including glacier conservation and the development of artificial intelligence.
In this context, the meeting participants supported the holding of the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the Implementation of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028", which will be held in Dushanbe on 25–28 May 2025.
It was also noted that by the end of 2025, the volume of foreign trade between the Republic of Tajikistan and SPECA member countries would amount to USD 2.1 billion. This figure represents an increase of USD 80 million, or 4%, compared to 2024.
