On April 15, 2026, representatives from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland visited the Sotim Ulughzoda Tajik International University of Foreign Languages. The visit was part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation and develop bilateral ties.
At the university, the delegation met with Rector Professor Jilo Gulnazarzoda. The delegation included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Tajikistan Catherine Smithton, Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Chris Allan, and a representative of the United Kingdom Embassy in Tajikistan, Umed Rahmonov.
During the meeting, the rector welcomed the guests and emphasized the constructive nature of cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom in science and education. He also provided information on the university's activities and foreign language teaching system, focusing on English language instruction.



The parties discussed key areas of cooperation in detail. Specifically, they expressed mutual interest in developing cooperation in education, exchanging experiences, implementing joint programs, improving the qualifications of teachers and specialists, and attracting international partners.
In addition, the meeting participants discussed the implementation of joint initiatives, including educational programs, as well as scientific and consulting activities.
Following the meeting, the university's leadership presented the guests with commemorative gifts, including an English translation of the fundamental work of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, "The Language of the Nation – The Essence of the Nation."
