On April 21, in Astana, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. This was reported by the press service of the President of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the leaders of the two countries discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Tajik-Kazakh relations of friendship and cooperation within the framework of a strategic partnership and alliance.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the rapid pace of cooperation in virtually all areas. They emphasized the importance of continuing to maintain regular interstate political dialogue, as well as expanding trade, economic, and investment ties in areas of mutual interest, including industry, transport, logistics, and the agricultural sector.
The leaders noted the rapid growth of mutual trade turnover, which will reach $1.2 billion by 2025. Promising areas of cooperation include digitalization, innovation, new technologies, and artificial intelligence.
In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, issues of expanding creative exchanges, as well as developing academic and educational ties, were discussed.
The heads of state paid special attention to security issues, including strengthening cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres, as well as jointly countering regional and global challenges and threats.
Furthermore, issues of multilateral cooperation within international and regional structures were discussed. In this context, an exchange of views took place on the agenda of the Regional Environmental Summit and the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, which will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan.
