UK intelligence agencies believe that approximately 100 countries may have acquired technologies capable of being used for cyberattacks on the country's infrastructure, companies, and private networks, according to the European publication Politico, citing the UK's National Cyber Security Centre.
According to the center, which is part of the Government Communications Headquarters, more than half of the world's countries are believed to possess such tools. This refers to software designed for cyber intrusions.
The National Cyber Security Center also noted that the use of spyware has significantly expanded in recent years. While such technologies were previously used primarily against journalists and dissidents, they are now increasingly targeting bankers and executives of large companies.
