On April 6, at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan, a meeting was held between the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population, Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Tajikistan, Relits Roker, and representatives of the Foreign Aid Department of the Government of that country.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan, in his welcoming remarks, Jamoliddin Abdullozoda noted the development of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the United States of America in the field of healthcare.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of healthcare for a period of five years was signed, which is an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation in this area.
It was noted that this agreement defines the joint obligations of the parties to support Tajikistan's national healthcare priorities, including the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, as well as strengthening global health security by improving systems for detecting and responding to infectious diseases.


Through this cooperation, the parties intend to strengthen the Republic of Tajikistan's capacity to identify, report, and respond to public health threats. Joint activities will contribute to the development of a unified national epidemiological surveillance and response system, including the improvement of laboratory networks, information systems, and coordination mechanisms.
The Memorandum also provides support for the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan's efforts to strengthen the human resources capacity of the healthcare system and expand the use of modern digital technologies to improve medical services throughout the country.
The United States of America intends to provide financial and technical assistance to implement shared priorities, which will be implemented in coordination with the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and in accordance with national strategies.
The total volume of joint investments under this Memorandum until 2030 will amount to approximately 78 million US dollars, of which 38 million dollars is the contribution of the United States of America and 40 million dollars is the contribution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the signing ceremony, Jamoliddin Abdullozoda noted that this agreement is an important step in strengthening the partnership and improving public health.
"We highly value our long-standing cooperation with the United States, particularly in combating infectious diseases and strengthening health security. We are grateful for the United States' continued support and partnership and look forward to further expanding our cooperation," he emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on expanding bilateral cooperation and expressed mutual interest in further collaboration.
