Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held his traditional two-session press conference this morning. He spent an hour and a half answering questions from Chinese and foreign journalists. The Chinese Foreign Minister emphasized that head-of-state diplomacy plays a key role in the country's foreign policy.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi: "The past year was filled with a grand international agenda, including many historic moments that contributed to strengthening contacts and coordination between world powers. The visits of the PRC leader to Southeast Asia, Russia, Central Asia, and the Republic of Korea strengthened China's good-neighborly relations and friendship with neighboring countries, the SCO summit in Tianjin and the China-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Forum served as an additional driver for the unity of the Global South. The commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War once again sent a powerful signal in support of peace. More and more countries around the world realize that Chinese diplomacy, personally planned and implemented by Chinese President Xi Jinping, plays a stabilizing and decisive role in a turbulent world, serving as a reliable support in the conditions of global turbulence. This became possible, in part, thanks to the implementation of a number of initiatives."
Wang Yi focused on China-Russia relations, noting that the two countries jointly uphold historical truth. He emphasized the importance of a multilateral approach in the international arena and said that multipolarity should be equitable. Wang Yi recalled that China holds the APEC Presidency this year and will focus on topics such as openness, innovation, and cooperation. Regarding the situation in the Middle East, Wang Yi noted that China has always advocated resolving disputes through diplomacy and calls for an immediate ceasefire. He also noted that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict should be resolved based on the "two states for two peoples" formula. Wang Yi emphasized that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China and called on Japan to learn from history. Regarding relations with Europe, he noted that they are gradually improving. The head of Chinese diplomacy also commented on relations with the United States, India, Latin American, and African countries. He called on the international community to unite to overcome modern challenges and work together to build a community with a shared future. (Photo: Xinhua)
