Pakistan has stated that it will not begin negotiations with Afghanistan until Kabul stops supporting armed groups that carry out cross-border attacks from Afghan territory, Bloomberg reports, citing a statement from Shahbaz Sharif Mosharaf Zaidi, a spokesman for Pakistani Prime Minister's Office.
According to Zaidi, Islamabad has no intention of engaging in dialogue with Kabul while attacks across the border continue.
"There will be no negotiations. Terrorism in Afghanistan must end," said a spokesman for the Pakistani Prime Minister's Office.
The situation on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border is reported to remain extremely tense. The border conflict has been ongoing for over a week.
In Pakistan itself, the situation also worsened after the start of the American-Israeli operation in Iran and the assassination of the country's leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
These events reportedly sparked protests by Shiites in several cities across Pakistan.
