Police have uncovered instances of car fraud in Gissar and Khujand, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
As a result of operational-search activities, police officers established that a 33-year-old resident of the city of Gissar, between July 2024 and October 2025, taking advantage of the trust of a 45-year-old resident of the city of Dushanbe, took possession of three cars: an AION S worth 140 thousand somoni, an Arcfox T5 worth 270 thousand somoni, and an IM MOTORS LS6 worth 300 thousand somoni.
The suspect then sold the vehicles, paid 190,000 somoni, and promised to return the remaining amount. However, he did not fulfill his promise and spent the proceeds on personal use.
During the investigation, police officers also discovered that between December 2024 and June 2025, a 34-year-old resident of Khujand gained the trust of a 37-year-old resident of Khujand and purchased four cars on credit: a BMW X6, a Toyota Camry 6, an Audi A6, and a Mercedes-Benz ML-350, totaling $55,500 and 290,000 somoni. He promised to sell the cars promptly and repay the money.
However, the suspect sold the cars, returned $9,000 to the victim, and used the remaining funds for personal use. The damages amounted to $46,500 and 290,000 somoni.
