On December 17, Ambassador Valikhan Amirkhanuly Turekhanov held a press conference at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Tajikistan. The conference summarized the results of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan for 2025 and outlined priorities for 2026. Journalists and public figures from Tajikistan participated in the event.
In his speech, the ambassador noted the high level of political dialogue between the countries, including working visits by heads of state, participation in Central Asian summits, and active interaction within the CIS, SCO, and other international organizations.

Turekhanov placed particular emphasis on trade and economic cooperation. He noted that trade between the two countries has grown by 29% over the past five years and is expected to reach approximately $1.2 billion by 2025. Trade primarily consists of food supplies, metal products, petroleum products, chemicals, construction materials, and equipment. In 2025, Kazakhstan provided Tajikistan with food grains and diesel fuel worth $3.6 million. Joint projects, digital solutions, and industrial cooperation continue to develop.
The ambassador noted the importance of humanitarian aid and cooperation in education. Academic exchanges, educational programs, and the training of Tajik specialists in Kazakhstani IT schools are actively developing.

Turekhanov also outlined priorities for 2026: maintaining the momentum of political contacts, achieving a trade turnover of $2 billion, and expanding cooperation in industry, agricultural processing, logistics, healthcare, digital technology, and the humanitarian sphere.
The ambassador emphasized that Kazakhstan views Tajikistan as a reliable partner and intends to strengthen cooperation, relying on mutual trust and the political will of the countries' leaders.
