The man who neutralized one of the terrorists during the shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney has been identified as 43-year-old Ahmed Al-Ahmed, a Muslim fruit shop owner in Sutherland, news.com.au reports, citing his cousin Mustafa.
According to a relative, Ahmed suffered two bullet wounds and is in the hospital. "We don't know exactly what's wrong with him," Mustafa said.
Video footage from the scene shows Ahmed crouched behind a car in the parking lot, a few meters from the shooter. Between shots, he ran among the cars, grabbed the attacker by the neck from behind, and grabbed the shotgun. The shooter fell to the ground.
Akhmed had no experience with weapons; he was simply passing by and decided to intervene, the source emphasizes.

The shooting at Bondi Beach occurred on December 14, the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. The attack left 15 people dead and approximately 30 injured, including two police officers. Local authorities classified the incident as a terrorist attack.
One of the attackers died at the scene, and the second was detained. Police identified one of the shooters as Navid Akram. A search is underway at his home. Australian police also found several improvised explosive devices in a car near the shooting scene.
Ahmed Al-Ahmed became a hero in Sydney, his actions preventing further casualties among Hanukkah celebrants.
