To implement the "Electricity Loss Reduction" project, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan signed loan and grant agreements totaling €43 million, the ministry's press service reported.
Of the total amount, €28 million is a loan and €15 million is provided in the form of grants by the European Union's Asia-Pacific Investment Facility.
The project's main goal is to facilitate the modernization of electricity metering infrastructure, including the installation of modern electricity meters in electricity distribution networks in the Khatlon and Sughd regions. The initiative aims to increase the efficiency of electricity distribution, reduce losses, and improve the quality of energy services provided to residents and businesses.
The agreements were signed by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan Fayziddin Kahhorzoda and the Resident Representative of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Tajikistan Holger Wiefel.
The parties noted the project's significance for the further development of the country's energy sector and increasing the investment attractiveness of electricity infrastructure projects.
The "Electricity Loss Reduction" project will be part of a comprehensive program to modernize Tajikistan's energy sector and is aimed at strengthening the reliability of electricity networks, increasing the transparency of consumption metering, and promoting the rational use of electricity.
