President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi. The meeting was held as part of strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, the presidential press service reported .
At the beginning of the conversation, Emomali Rahmon noted that China is one of Tajikistan's key trade, economic, and investment partners and occupies a leading position in the country's foreign economic relations. The President emphasized the importance of expanding multifaceted, mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the strategic partnership and highlighted the results of his series of meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping this year.
Wang Yi, in turn, highlighted the achievements of Tajikistan and the country's capital, noting the significant progress in the country's development. "Mr. President, as the founder of your state and national leader, you have contributed your heart and soul to the country's development. You have put the people first. We highly value this concept of governance," the Chinese Foreign Minister said.
During the meeting, Tajikistan reaffirmed its support for the Chinese leadership's new global initiatives, including the Global Governance Initiative. The parties noted the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms in political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and other areas.
It was noted that bilateral trade volume exceeded two billion dollars in the first ten months of 2025. It was emphasized that bilateral economic cooperation encompasses strategically important sectors of the economy, including industry, particularly mining, transportation, energy, and agriculture.
The parties expressed their intention to expand cooperation in the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and the implementation of green technologies, as well as to increase the volume of Tajik agricultural exports to the Chinese market.
Particular attention was given to issues of cooperation in the field of security, including the joint fight against terrorism, extremism, religious radicalism, cybercrime, drug trafficking, and other manifestations of transnational organized crime.
The dynamic development of cultural and humanitarian ties was noted with satisfaction. Gratitude was expressed to the Chinese government for providing state quotas for Tajik students, and interest in increasing the number of quotas for study at Chinese universities in in-demand fields was emphasized.
During the meeting, cooperation between Tajikistan and China within international and regional organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, was discussed, as well as improving cooperation mechanisms within the Central Asia-China format. The President of Tajikistan thanked the Chinese side for its support in establishing the SCO Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe.
