Last night was one of the most tense for residents of Moscow and the Moscow region since the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. Russian media and Telegram channels reported the interception of dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) heading toward the capital. Damage estimates are being clarified.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that 193 Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs were intercepted in the country on the night of October 27. The number of drones that were not intercepted was not disclosed. Forty drones were shot down over the Moscow region alone, 34 of which were heading toward Moscow.
Interceptions also occurred over the Bryansk, Kaluga, Tula, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Voronezh, Orenburg, Tambov, Belgorod, Lipetsk, and Samara regions. Airport operations were restricted due to the attack.
A minibus driver was reported killed and five passengers injured in an incident in the Bryansk region. Details of other consequences of the attack are being clarified.
According to media reports, this is one of the largest Ukrainian night attacks using drones since the beginning of the war.
The day before, the Russian army carried out shelling of Kyiv, resulting in the deaths and injuries of civilians.
