Tajikistan's Foreign Minister, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, participated in a high-level special event on "Shaping the Future of Water," held during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
Sirojiddin Mukhriddin emphasized that water is a key element in addressing today's global challenges, including food security, energy, and sustainable development. The minister noted that water, energy, and food are closely interconnected, and an integrated approach allows existing challenges to be transformed into opportunities for sustainable development.
"Water is life's greatest treasure. Integrated water resources management is the foundation for community development, economic stimulation, and the preservation of ecosystems around the world," said the head of Tajik diplomacy.
He also emphasized Tajikistan's commitment to building a green economy, noting that over 98% of the country's electricity is generated from hydropower. He emphasized that rational water use plays a strategic role in the sustainable development of the country and the region.
The Minister noted that Tajikistan is ready to actively cooperate with international partners to implement effective water resource management mechanisms and strengthen global water security.
The event brought together high-level representatives from UN member states and international organizations to discuss strategies and initiatives to ensure sustainable use of water resources in the face of global climate and environmental challenges.
