Key energy projects aimed at increasing the region's energy supply and developing green energy are being implemented in Tajikistan's Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, according to the country's Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.
According to the agency, the Sebzor hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 11 megawatts has been built in the Roshtkala district. Its annual output is over 77.6 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity, significantly improving the local population's energy supply.
Additionally, construction of a 3-megawatt solar power plant is ongoing in the village of Rozh in the Shugnansky District. Land leveling for the tower installation has now been completed. The facility is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2025. The Ministry clarified that 80% of the required equipment has been delivered to the region.
"The implementation of these projects is of strategic importance for the development of the energy sector and ensuring a sustainable energy supply in GBAO," the Ministry of Energy noted.
