From September 13 to 16, Tajikistan is forecast to experience deteriorating air quality due to a dust storm coming from the south and southwest of the country, the country's Hydrometeorological Center reports.
The dust haze is expected to affect cities and districts of the Khatlon region, districts of republican subordination, southern districts of the Sughd region, and the country's capital, Dushanbe.
The air will be polluted with suspended dust particles, including those up to 10 microns (PM-10) and up to 2.5 microns (PM-2.5), which may negatively impact the health of residents.
The Hydrometeorological Center recommends that citizens limit long walks outdoors, especially near busy roads. Particular attention should be paid to children, the elderly, and those with chronic respiratory diseases.
Authorities advise using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks and goggles, and, if possible, staying indoors with windows closed until the situation improves.
