On August 18, 2025, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan Sherali Kabir held a videoconference with Sunil Gupta, co-founder and CEO of Yotta Data Services, a leading Indian company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan.
The video conference was organized as part of Yotta's collaboration with the ministry's Artificial Intelligence Council. Yotta, founded in 2019 by Sunil Gupta and Darshan Hiranandani, is currently valued at $4.2 billion. It is a key player in India's AI ecosystem, providing more than half of the nation's infrastructure with advanced AI computing chips. As part of its capacity expansion plans, Yotta intends to deploy over 30,000 GPUs by the end of 2025.
During the meeting, Minister Sherali Kabir informed the Director General of Yotta about the recent adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution on the development of artificial intelligence in Central Asia. The resolution was initiated by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon. The Minister emphasized that the adoption of the resolution and the upcoming establishment of the Regional AI Center in Dushanbe open up significant opportunities for bilateral cooperation with Yotta.
The company's team noted Tajikistan's significant progress in implementing the National AI Development Strategy until 2040 and presented a portfolio of key AI-based products.
During the talks, the parties agreed to explore key areas of cooperation, including the development of AI computing infrastructure in Tajikistan to meet regional needs for pre-training and inference across Central Asia.
Following the meeting, the minister invited Yotta's leadership to participate in an international conference on artificial intelligence, which will be held on October 24–25, 2025, in Dushanbe.
It's worth noting that these high-level talks are part of the AI Council's broader initiative to attract leading global companies to Tajikistan ahead of the launch of the Regional AI Center in Dushanbe. To date, the ministry has already signed several agreements with renowned companies from the US and UAE to establish regional artificial intelligence laboratories within the proposed Area AI special economic zone.
