In the first half of 2025, 26 people died as a result of accidents at enterprises and industrial facilities in Tajikistan. This was announced at a press conference at the Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the ministry, the number of deaths increased by 12 compared to the same period last year. However, the number of injuries has decreased: 34 workers were injured this year, which is seven fewer than last year.
The Ministry of Labor emphasizes that the main causes of accidents remain failure to comply with safety requirements, lack of proper oversight by enterprise management, and the use of outdated equipment.
Previously, the State Service for Supervision of Industrial and Mining Safety reported that occupational safety violations are most often detected at construction sites, in the mining and manufacturing industries.
According to the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Labor Protection," families of the deceased are paid compensation equal to 60 times their average monthly salary, while injured workers receive a one-time payment equal to 12 times their salary. Pensioners receive compensation commensurate with their pensions.
The agency also noted that this year, all victims and the families of the deceased received compensation. The largest amount—130,000 euros—was received by the family of a Honduran specialist who worked as a technical safety expert on the Rogun hydroelectric power station construction site.
