During the re-registration of cultural heritage sites on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan, specialists from the Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage under the Government of the country discovered and registered ten previously unregistered historical and cultural monuments. This was reported by the Director of the Agency Sherali Khodjazoda at a press conference on July 21.

According to the presented data, the new objects include two Buddhist monasteries of the 7th-8th centuries discovered in the vicinity of the city of Nurek, three monuments of the Sassanid era in the Shamsiddin Shokhin area, two rock inscriptions of the medieval period in the mountainous region of Gornaya Matcha, as well as three architectural monuments of the same era in the Ayni region.
"We continue large-scale work on inventorying and protecting the country's cultural heritage. New finds confirm the richness of Tajikistan's historical past," Khodjazoda noted.
In addition to architectural and archaeological objects, during field work, artifacts related to jewelry and pottery, coin minting, as well as items testifying to the high level of urban planning art of antiquity were found.
According to the agency, re-registration of objects is being carried out in all regions of the country, including remote mountainous areas. In the city of Tursunzade, during the inventory, cases of destruction of individual monuments were also recorded, in connection with which restoration work has begun.
Work on the registration and preservation of monuments continues within the framework of the state programme for the protection of cultural heritage and includes cooperation with international experts in the fields of archaeology, architecture and conservation.
