In the adult surgery department of the Clinical Hospital No. 1 of the city of Khujand, an operation to remove an inguinal hernia was performed for the first time using the modern TAPP (transabdominal preperitoneal hernioplasty) method. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the department, this is already the third advanced surgical method introduced in the said clinic over the past two years, which indicates a steady increase in the level of medical care for the region’s population.
The TAPP procedure is a minimally invasive procedure performed using laparoscopic technology. The procedure is performed through three small punctures in the anterior abdominal wall. During the operation, carbon dioxide is supplied to the abdominal cavity, creating space for work, after which the hernia sac is carefully separated and closed with a special mesh implant. This allows you to reliably strengthen the anterior abdominal wall and prevent the hernia from developing again.
According to the hospital's surgeons, this technique is highly effective, reduces the risk of postoperative complications, shortens the period of hospitalization, reduces pain in patients and facilitates a quick return to everyday life.
"This operation is a significant achievement for the entire Sughd region. It demonstrates the growth of professionalism of doctors, as well as the gradual introduction of innovative technologies into the country's healthcare system," the press service of the Ministry of Health noted.
The introduction of the TAPP method was made possible by government support for the healthcare system, targeted investments in the development of surgical departments and continuous professional development of doctors.
