Former US President Donald Trump has criticized entrepreneur Elon Musk, accusing him of creating a new political party that, according to Trump, could destabilize the country's political system. He stated this in his address on the social network Truth Social .
"I am saddened to see Elon Musk completely go off the rails and essentially end up in a train wreck over the last five weeks," Trump wrote, commenting on Musk's recent announcement of the formation of a new political force, the "Party of America."
According to the former president, third parties in the US have historically failed to succeed. "The system doesn't seem designed for them. The only thing third parties can do is create complete confusion and chaos. And we have enough chaos already with the radical left Democrats who have lost their confidence and their minds," Trump noted.
Musk's announcement about the creation of a new party was made the day before. "With odds of two to one, you want to create a new political party, and you will get one. Today, the "Party of America" was created to give you back your freedom," the billionaire wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
Musk explained that the decision to create the party was due to deep dissatisfaction with the current political situation in the United States. According to him, the country is living in conditions of "political and economic bankruptcy" caused by "waste, bribery and a de facto one-party system" which, in his opinion, has replaced democracy.
It is not yet clear whether the new party has been officially registered in the US electoral system, who will be its leader, and what organizational structure it will adopt. The media notes that no official documentation on this matter has been published yet.
Elon Musk was previously known as one of Donald Trump's supporters and actively supported him during the presidential campaign. After Trump's victory in the election, Musk was appointed to the post of head of the Department of Government Efficiency.
However, in May of this year, the two figures had serious disagreements, primarily on fiscal policy. Musk criticized Trump's tax and government spending plans. Despite the harsh criticism, Trump signed the bill into law on July 4, calling it a "big, beautiful law" after a lengthy debate in Congress.
Political analysts are still cautious about the prospects of the "Party of America", pointing to the lack of a clear program, structure and leadership, as well as the possible influence of the new political project on the course of the 2026 presidential campaign.
